Welcome to music at Isaac Fox Elementary School! We are fortunate to be part of a school community that values the arts and what they bring to the whole child.
Our music program is based on the philosophy and practices of Orff-Schulwerk, a hands-on, experience-based approach to music education developed by the German composer Carl Orff.
Each class in grades 1-5 has music for two 30 minute sessions each week. These classes develop both skill and understanding in the basic elements of music through experiences in body percussion, speech, singing, movement, games, drama, and the playing of classroom instruments. Students are assessed three times per year, and will receive a music report card with their academic report card. Participation and best effort are the most important elements of this assessment.
