Welcome to the LZHS Science Department

What do we offer to the LZHS student?

The LZHS Science Department offers 17 science courses at several different levels. Although students are required to take a minimum of two years of science (one life science, one physical science), most students take three or four years of science to prepare for college. We offer Advanced Placement courses in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The Program of Studies provides an overview of courses.

We are interested in "Doing Science" at LZHS. It is our desire to provide the LZHS students with a strong academic background and to do so by providing opportunities for students to be the scientists. Be it in the classroom or outside, we strive to provide students with the skills needed to think scientifically. As students work hard in the classroom they may be selected by their teacher as the "Science Student of the Month." We are proud of the accomplishments of our students and look forward to helping our future students succeed in science.
