Course Description

This course will provide students with the opportunity to explore a large variety of different cuisines with an emphasis on the creativity of cooking.

 

Student Objectives

        To review cooking terms and preparation skills

        To review table setting and manners

        To review good safety habits

        To review time management skills

        To be able to identify international culinary and menu terms

        To be able to prepare a variety of different foods

                Breakfast foods

                Lunch foods

                Appetizers

                Dinner foods

                Desserts

        To experiment with a variety of herbs and spices

        To learn the art of garnishing foods for eye appeal

        To learn the art of demonstrating with food

        To learn the basics of cake decorating

        To learn to enhance basic recipes into new creations

        To have fun trying to be creative with food!

 

Student expectations

        Completions of all written assignments

        Participation in foods labs

        Make- up any missed labs and assignments

        Complete several research projects and food demonstrations

        Complete the final practical and written exam
