How to Visit: There are several ways to visit the
Get a library pass from one of
your academic
teachers (no passes from substitutes) prior to your study hall period.
There can be only one student per pass, so you must be the only name written on
the pass.
When that period comes, go directly to the library - do not report to
your study hall. You must arrive at the
library BEFORE the bell, present whoever is working the desk with your pass, then sign in on the attendance sheet. If you are tardy to the library, you will not
be allowed to enter. You will be sent
back to study hall where you will receive a tardy from that supervisor. All students entering the library on a pass
must also sign out at the end of the period.
This is necessary for you to be cleared by the attendance office. If you
do not sign in, it will appear that you never showed up to the library. If you sign in, but forget to sign out, it
will appear that you signed in, then immediately left the library. All students using the library during study
halls must stay there once they enter!
Students
who wish to use the LMC before school, after school, and during a lunch period
are allowed to come and go as needed.
This also goes for seniors with an open period. ALL STUDENTS USING THE LIBRARY MUST BE FOLLOWING THE STUDENT EXPECTATIONS BELOW, OTHERWISE PRIVILEGES WILL BE REVOKED!
Student Expectations for Library Use
1. Quiet environment All students deserve the ability to concentrate. Loud noises and conversations are distracting. Students who are causing distraction to others will be warned verbally. If the behavior continues, they will be sent from the library back to study hall/lunch for the period. If the distractions continue to be caused by the same student upon returning, library privileges will be lost for a week or longer. 2. Purposeful activity The Library Media Center is a space to increase your learning. Students are expected to be on task working, searching, or reading. Students who are not engaging in purposeful activity may be asked to leave to keep the space and resources available. 3. Responsible computer use The computers in the library are here for academic research purposes. They can be used with the following guidelines in mind: · School appropriate content ONLY – this excludes e-mail, social networking, chat, and other communicative sites. Students accessing inappropriate content will be reported to the deans. · No games or video – they take up too much bandwidth and slow down the entire school network! Students using games or video will be warned. If another game or video site is accessed, students will be reported to the deans.
***NOTE: There is software on all teacher computers that allow student computers to be monitored at all times!!!*** 4. No food or beverages This is to keep the chairs, tables, floors, and computer work spaces clean. Students eating or drinking in the library will be warned. If it happens again, the student will be asked to leave the library for the period. Any repeated occurrences will result in the student losing library privileges for a week or longer.
Checkout: Your student
ID or your last name will allow you to check out books with us if
there are no overdue materials or charges on your account. Books circulate for two-week periods, while magazines and pamphlets may be checked out for three days. All materials incur a fine of $0.05 per day if overdue.
Reserve materials are available for one or three nights (teacher's choice). A fine of $1.00 per day will be charged for reserve materials returned late. All books and fines will be collected at the end of the semester.
