PREPARED SELECTIONS In the prepared selection audition rooms, you will need to perform excerpts from two of the six IMEA choir pieces. Two out of those six pieces are required by the state (that is, they will be performed by the All State Choirs at the All State Festival). One of those two required pieces will be selected for the audition by the state selection committee. The other audition piece is determined by the IMEA choir directors on the audition day. It may be the other state required selection or it may be one of the other pieces chosen by the festival director. TONAL SKILLS In the tonal skills room, you will be asked to sing two scales, three triads and two sight reading exercises. One sight reading exercise will be in a major key and one will likely be in a minor key. You can hear examples below in a variety of keys. I suggest using these keys for rehearsal; though, the key used in the audition room could be any of these!
