Lake Zurich Jazz Ensembles History
June 2009: The Jazz Ensemble, Jazz lab band and
Jazz Combo released their 2nd jazz CD entitled "Blowout"
March/April 2009: Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab
Band will be traveled to New Orleans to learn about the home of the
music we love so much. The the bands stayed and performed at Camp Hope
for the Americorps and Habitat for Humanity volunteers who are working
towards rebuilding the city. They also performed at a Habitat for
Humanity job site where they spent 3 days working on 3 houses. They will
also be performed at a local high school, making some cross cultural
connections and encouraging a rebuilding program. The band also
collected children's books and toys as well as musical instruments that
were donated to New Orleans charitable groups
April 2006: the Jazz Ensemble releases "An
Agreeable Noise"

March 2006: the Lake Zurich High School Jazz
Ensemble was selected as a finalist for the prestigious Essentially
Ellington Competition in New York City. The band performed as one of 15
bands chosen nationwide on the stage at Frederick P. Rose Hall during
the weekend of May 18-20th.
February 2006 Jazz Ensemble records Ellington
tunes for "An Agreeable Noise."
February 2006 Jazz Ensemble is selected as
Class Champion at Jazz in the Meadows.
1999 Second jazz ensemble "Jazz Lab Band" is
added as a curricular class

1997 Joshua Thompson becomes director of the
Lake Zurich High School Band Program
