Parent Suggestions for Student Success

Please stay involved in your student's education. Your involvement, shows that their academic progress is important to all of us.

As the year progresses, class instruction incorporates material that is more challenging to students. The contrast between low comfort levels and a more challenging curriculum often results in dropped effort and grades.

Encourage students to check their grades often. Each teacher has grades posted on e-school.

Make sure your child has a quiet place free from distractions to study and to complete homework.

Check to see that your child's assignment notebook is being filled out correctly, including daily homework and upcoming tests, quizzes, and projects.

Check that your child's work is complete, follows directions, and is neat. Have them use rubrics and grade sheets provided by teachers to check that their work earns the best possible grade.

Help your child with organization and study strategies and be sure that they are prepared for quizzes and tests.

Talk to your child about what they are learning in class and how they are progressing.

Communicate with teachers to follow-up on your child's progress.

If your child is part of extra-curricular activities, such as sports teams or clubs, or if they are in band, orchestra, or chorus, help them to manage their commitments to these activities with their class responsibilities.

Parent Teacher Partnership
