The Garden Club is a new MSN club founded by Mrs. Pollak and Mrs. Fisher that is organized to give students the opportunity to make seasonal garden crafts/pots/plants that they can take home to enjoy; help beautify inside and outside our school building; and this year, aid in community service projects and fundraisers.

Some FYI questions about Garden Club:

Are we open to new ideas and new garden crafts and creations?
Absolutely, we encourage students to use their creativity and experience to make Garden Club even better.

How many times do we meet?
Garden Club meets 2 times a week (or more) during our seasonal “work” times.  For example, if we are making our mini pumpkins for Halloween, we would meet 2-3 times a week until we have completed the project.  Some months we do not meet at all. A calendar will be provided at the beginning of each month for the following month.

How many times can I miss the Garden Club?
We encourage that you participate as often as possible. Projects require materials that need to be purchased ahead of time and if you are not available, then we lose funds.  We understand that other responsibilities arise, but you will always be able to take the late bus home after school. Please let us know at least two weeks in advance. If you miss more than
three meetings without an excused absence, we have the right to suspend you from the club.

Can anyone join at anytime during the school year?
Absolutely, we always welcome new members!

What are some of your highlights of this new school year?
We will be creating more holiday displays in our school such as mini pumpkins, Thanksgiving cornucopias, Holiday trees, Valentine’s Day Roses Sale, “Spring Fever” baskets and flower pots.

What is the “dirty” work that the Garden Club does?
The Garden Club will occasionally go out onto the school grounds (sometimes in cold weather) and do some major weeding, maintenance and planting of bulbs for the spring. During these times, we ask you to please bring some “garden clothes” and  proper shoes to work in. We supply the gloves and all working supplies.

Is there an annual fee for the Garden Club?
Yes, due to the high cost of garden supplies for all the major crafts, we ask for a 20.00 fee which covers you for the entire school year.

Explain how one Garden Club meeting would be?
Students must arrive at
2:30 P.M. in Mrs. Fisher’s room (A210) We will begin our projects immediately and at 3:00 P.M., we will have a healthy snack and drink. Then students will clean up their project areas and you will be dismissed at 3:15 P.M. for the late bus or your ride home.

We look forward to a new and exciting school year with old and new Garden Club members and fresh, creative ideas ready to bloom all year long!

Thanks for your participation;

Mrs. Pollak and Mrs. Fisher
