v Be positive.

v Ask for help.

Curriculum Overview:

We will be working to connect state and local objectives into the curriculum.

Students will read a variety of fiction genres as well as informational text.  The students will be using Prentice Hall literature books along with self-selected novels and assigned novels.  The students will use reading strategies for comprehension, analyzing, and interpreting fiction and nonfiction text.

Daily Work:

Students are expected to keep a spiral notebook of literature vocabulary in which to use for future reference.  Participation is necessary on a daily basis.  The students will also complete up to 4 independent book projects.

Grading:

Grades will be based on a cumulative point total.  They will be updated on a weekly basis.  Please monitor your grades for accuracy and ask if you have any questions.

Academic Accountability:

It is the student’s responsibility to come to me when they are absent or have not completed an assignment.  Yellow academic accountability sheets will be sent home for any late assignment.  The student then needs to turn in the work the next for 50% credit.  If the assignment is not completed he/she will receive an academic detention.
