The first quarter of 6th Grade students take Transitions. This course is
designed to make students familiar with Middle School North, their
teachers, schedules, lockers, and of course their peers.
In the first two weeks, students will get to know one another and other
people in the building. Special visitors will come into our class, such as
the principals, counselors, and librarians. We will be able to ask them
questions and learn new things about the school. We will do get to
know you games and activities.
We will talk about certain topics such as, cooperation, working in
groups, different learning styles, organization methods, bullying, and school
activities to be involved in. Throughout the quarter students will have
their assignment notebooks and binders checked for organization and proper
use.
For the final 3 weeks of Transitions, we will begin a shift toward the
world languages. This year we are adding a portion of the course called
- Cultural World Languages. The students will have this as an option for
7th grade. Cultural World Languages will be a course designed to learn
about the cultural side of the French, German, & Spanish speaking
countries.
Students will be graded on in-class tasks, group work, quizzes and
tests, assignment notebook/binder checks and more!
