Our ELL classes are composed of students in grades, 6, 7, and 8. In our ELL 1,2, and 3 classes, we concentrate on grammar, vocabulary development, and work intensively on our reading, and writing skills. We cover a variety of books including our Prentice Hall textbook, for grades 6-8, also various vocabulary books, grade level appropriate, and a variety of novels geared to individual student's reading levels. Our ELL classes allow our students to adjust to mainstream classes, while progressing in our smaller classes at their individual rate. In our resource classes students are given assistance with all school matters, including homework, extra time on tests, or help in communicating with other teachers. Thus far, what we have been doing has worked very well! Our students progress nicely and are soon fluent in English, and have developed skills and strategies that assist them in all of their classes.
