1-20-11--It was a tough loss for the LZ North 8th Grade Lady Wolves on Thursday as they played Prairie.  North was defeated by Prairie in 2 games (22-25, 24-26).  These CLOSE games had some great plays: 7 serves by Brianna Wold and 4 spikes by Blair Coughenour.  The game resulted in a record of 0-1 so far for the season.  Their next game is Tuesday, January 25 at Hawthorn South.  Come cheer on the Wolves!!!!!

1-25-11--The 8th Grade North Lady Wolves Volleyball team lost in 3 games (9-25, 25-23, 15-25) against Hawthorn South's strong defense.  The Wolves didn't come out of the gate strong but picked up some spectacular momentum in the 2nd game. Mickenzie Andrews, Brianna Wold, and Emma Brueggemann set our team up time and time again to create some great attacks by Blair Coughenour, Elly Daleske, Allie Tassi and Casey McGinnis.  The girls play next on Thursday at home against Fox River Grove.  Come cheer them on at 4 PM.

1-27-11-So sad…but HARD FOUGHT!  The Lake Zurich 8^th Grade Girls Volleyball team lost to Fox River Grove in 2 games (23-25, 16-25).  Although the loss was difficult, the team learned a lot from it.  Great  sets and net play were highlighted by Brianna Wold and Mackenzie DeRousse while Amanda Grunden and Catherine Miller has some awesome serves.  Blair Coughenour covered the floor and has the battle scars to prove it!  Come cheer the girls on as we battle our cross-town team, LZ South on Tuesday at home!  Go Wolves!

2-8-11-It was a wonderful night for volleyball!  The LZ 8^th grade Lady Wolves won last night against Hawthorn North in 3 games (15-25, 25-22, 25-20).  The Wolves made a great team effort to bump, set, and spike their way to an exciting win!  Stars of the night were Maria Anagnostopoulos, Elly Daleske, and Mackenzie DeRousse (7 serves each), Allie Tassi (8 serves), and Brianna Wold with 18 sets helping Amanda Grunden and Nicole Kieda get 9 spikes each!  What a night!  The Wolves now have a 1-3 record and plan to keep improving!  Come see the beat Barrington Station on Thursday at 4 pm!  Go Wolves!

2-10-11-GO WOLVES! GO WOLVES!  It was a winning week for the 8^th grade girls volleyball players!  Following their Tuesday night win against Hawthorn North, the Lady Wolves were looking for another chance to improve their record.  THEYFOUND IT!  LZ North beat Barrington Station in 2 games (25-15, 25-21).  Mickenzie Andrews brought some serious action by making 8 serves while Brianna Wold kept the action going with 8 sets.  This helped the rest of the team bring on the spiking and tips to help bring us to the win!  North girls play next in Fox River Grove on Monday (Valentine’s Day).  Come show them some support and LOVE!  Go Wolves!

2-14-11-…and they did it again!  The 8^th grade girls volleyball team took charge last night and beat FRG in 2 games (25-16, 25-22)!  Serves were the name of the game as Casey Mc Ginnis, Amanda Grunden, Kristina Wojcik, and Nicole Kieda blew them away with some great service runs. Their record is now 3-3 ! Come see the girls play tonight at Grayslake!  Go Wolves!

2-15-11-It was a hard fought game last night as the 8th grade girls volleyball players lost to Grayslake in 2 games (19-25, 17-25).  Grayslake had some terrific, hard serves that caught LZ off-guard.  However, the Wolves still played their hearts out and worked to get some great plays of their own.  Their next game is against Barrington Station on Thursday (away game).  Come cheer on the Wolves as they try to improve their 4-3 record.  Go Wolves!

2-17-11-Sad loss for 8th Grade LZ Lady Wolves last night.  Barrington Station took a stand  and played hard to overcome the loss against us last time.  With LZ players out for injuries, the team took quite a beating in game one (13-25).  We came back to almost win game 2 (22-25) but couldn't pull it out.  LZMSN Ladies play on Tuesday against Barrington Station!  Come see them play in Barrington and help cheer them on to a win.  They need your support!  Go Wolves!

2-22-11-The 8^th Grade Girls Volleyball Team did it again!  They conquered Prairie last night in 3 games (21-25, 25-21, 25-22).  What a match!  Service stars for the night were Brianna Wold (10), Maria Anagnostopoulos (10) and Casey McGinnis (9).  The team record is now 4-5 and the girls want to improve their record to 5-5 by beating South tonight!  South is coming here tonight and the 8^th graders play at 4 pm!  Come cheer on your wolves!!!!!!!

2-23-11-It was a disappointing night against South as the 8th grade lady wolves lost in 2 games (24-26, 20-24). Chalk it up to a stressful cross-town evening that is always super-charged!  The Wolves did not show their best and allowed the Eagles to soar.  However, the Wolves will face the Eagles again tonight (Thursday) for a rematch!  Go Wolves!  Let's make tonight a win!

2-24-11-What is it about playing Middle School South?!  Unfortunately the Wolves took a tumble against the Eagles again last night in 2 games (18-25, 22-25).  The second game was close with tons of great net play and service runs!  The Wolves now have a record of 4-7 but intend to improve that record when we play both Waucondas next week.  They play Wauconda Matthews at home on Tuesday!  Come cheer on the Wolves to a victory!

3-1-11-YES!  Wolves Win!  The 8th grade Girls Volleyball team beat Wauconda Matthews in 2 games (25-13, 25-16).  What a great ego boost for some great players who have had some tough matches lately!  Come see the Wolves play their last game of regular season play against Wauconda on Thursday in Wauconda!  You will get to see some amazing servers (Cat, Brianna, Amanda, Mick, and Maria) and you will get to see some consistent passers (Kristina, Nicole, Elly, Allison and Allie) and you will also get to see some great net play by all!  Go Wolves!

3-3-11-The last game of their season was an exciting one!  Wow!  The 8^th grade girls vb team beat Wauconda in 3 games (24-26, 25-13, 27-25).  The stats were overflowing off the page as players served, bumped, set, and spiked their way to victory!  North players with great stats included: Mick (10 serves—3 were aces), Megan (8 serves—3 were aces), Maria (11 serves—3 were aces), Brianna (7 serves—2 were aces), Elly (12 spikes), Nicole (5 spikes).  The set ups were incredible and the teamwork was TOP NOTCH!!!!!!!  Go Wolves!  The 8^th grade GVB team plays their conference tournament in Grayslake.  See Coach Gajda or any 8^th grade GVB player for info!!!!!!
