Mrs. Martin
7th Grade World Studies
Welcome to 7th grade! Throughout the year we will study Europe, Africa, Latin America, and the United States Constitution. Please come to class prepared. You need to bring your textbook, binder, student agenda, and writing utensils to class each day.
Class Rules
1. Be prepared, seated, and ready to work when the bell rings.
2. Treat each other, teacher, and class materials with respect.
3. Contribute appropriately depending on the classroom situation. Please raise your hand to ask or answer a question in a traditional class setting or wait your turn to speak in a breakout small group discussion.
4. Class is over when you are dismissed.
Assignments
1. All assignments must include your name, date, period, and page number (if needed).
2. Assignments can written in pencil or pen. Colored pencils will be used on all map making and labeling assignments.
3. All assignments are due the next day unless otherwise stated.
4. If you do not have the assignment fully completed it will be recorded as a zero. You will need to fill out an academic accountability pink slip and have it on your desk. Instead of turning in the assignment you will turn in this slip. In order to earn partial credit you need to complete the assignment by the next class period. Please give the assignment directly to me at the beginning of class.
5. Your student agenda must be brought to class daily and assignments recorded.
Grades
A point system is used to compute your grade. Your final grade will be an average of your homework, assignments, projects, quizzes, and tests. It is the student’s responsibility to check your online grades for accuracy. Grades will be updated at least once per week.
Grading Homework
1. Use only red pen. No neon gel colors or highlighters please.
2. Mark all problems right or wrong.
3. Using your red pen, make all necessary corrections throughout the assignment.
4. If you do not have the assignment completed, you will fill out a pink slip.
Absent?
1. Check the homework board. You have two days for each day you were absent to make up work. If there was a worksheet assigned, it will be in the red file according to your class period. Otherwise, book assignments, quizzes and tests are written on the calendar. They will also be posted on my website.
2. If there was an assignment due the day you were gone, please hand the assignment to me at the beginning of class.
3. If notes were taken the day you were gone, please borrow another student’s notes and copy them.
4. Complete the assignment you missed and hand the assignment to me.
