How do you try out for poms?
For poms, try outs are at the end of the year, usually in May.
When and where are practices?
Practices for the poms team are during summer and after school
when school starts usually in thecafeteria or in the East or West gym.
When is poms?
The season for poms is the same season of the Girl's
basketball team from the beginning of the school year till the end of October.
Who can try out?
6th, 7th, and 8th graders and Middle School South can try out
for poms.
When does the pom's team perform?
The poms team performs
2 songs during the half time and at the end of
the girls basketball game. The poms team also performs in Pack the House in
spring.
What is Pack the House or PTH?
Pack the House is a dance routine with a boy partner with
multiple songs. PTH often has a theme every year.(2008 Grease, 2009 Michael Jackson , 2010
Glee)
What are the requirements for poms?
Perform in front of crowds
Memorize 2 routines and PTH
Toe touches
"C" jump
Kickline
Double turn
Leaps
Facial Expressions
Be able to be at every practice
What is the time commitement
for poms?
There will be practices almost every
day after school till 4:00 from August to Mid November. Contact Ms. Cohen if you
have a conflict on the Poms calendar.
What are the fees?
There is no fee to try out.
There will be an athletic fee if you make the team.
Other fees will be determined
once you have made the team.
