Originally from Texas, Mrs. Buenning is in her seventh year at South.  This is her 16^th year as a school librarian and her 12^th year as a middle school librarian.  Prior to becoming a librarian she taught every grade except high school.  She has also been a computer teacher and conference presenter in both local and national settings.  Her undergraduate degree is from Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State University.  She taught music for three years in Texas before moving to Illinois.   Her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction is from Concordia University in River Forest.  She began her library career with an endorsement from Northern Illinois University and received her master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Dominican University.

Mrs. Buenning is quite proud of her family. Her husband is a National Board Certified teacher at Fremd High School in Palatine.  Her daughter is a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University and Georgetown University, married to a U. S. Army officer.  Her son is a graduate of Columbia College in Chicago, and is a writer, professional blogger, and comedian. He is in a movie still waiting for release and was seen as Peter in the Steppenwolf Theater production of The Diary of Anne Frank in 2006. They have an adorable Cairn terrier who makes them all laugh at her antics.

When she is not reading, her other hobbies include gardening, computing, sewing and crafts.   She is a member of the American Library Association, American Association of School Librarians, Young Adult Library Services Association, and the Illinois School Library Media Association.  She is also a member of Pi Lambda Theta Honor Society in Education.

Although born and raised in a small town in New Jersey, Mrs. Paul has also lived in southern Illinois and in Hawaii.  She graduated from Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois, with a degree in Psychology and a degree in Sociology.  After graduating from college she worked as a mental health caseworker and later as Assistant Director of Admissions for Blackburn College.  Mrs. Paul is also a nationally certified massage therapist.

Mrs. Paul has a wonderful husband and family.  Her oldest son graduated from the University of Missouri and  majored in journalism and East Asian studies.  Her oldest daughter is a student at Chamberlain College of Nursing and loves music, lacrosse and golf.  Her youngest daughter is a 8^th grader at South who loves animals, sports and chess.  Mrs. Paul and her children share a love of reading!

A “Jersey girl” at heart, Mrs. Paul loves to spend time each summer on the beach at the Jersey shore reading a few good books and collecting seashells.  She also enjoys volunteering and traveling with her family.
