Meeting Minutes

 

The meeting was called to order by Co-President Kim Ketcham at 7:07pm.

 

Motion to approve the January 2011 and February 2011 minutes by Donna Young and Nancy McGee – motion approved by.

 

Lauren Amoroso and Kim Ketcham – Co-President

·         Wildcat Walk – this has been cancelled as we have decided to focus our fundraising efforts elsewhere this year.

·         May Whitney Panoramic Picture – coming tomorrow, there were issues with the lab which was the reason for the delay.

·         Mulamu – upcoming deals will be more local. You can designate the foundation or May Whitney.  All money goes to technology.

·         Playground Equipment – the new items purchased with the grant for the playground are almost all in. They will be out on the playground after spring break.  Each class will have their own set of balls to use.

·         Basketball Hoops – we are looking into getting another basketball hoop. We have prices however it needs to go through the district and the regional office of education for final approval.

·         Big Idea – thanks to everyone who has returned these forms - you have until Friday to send your vote in.  Playground and indoor recess items are leading. We will form a committee to move the winning votes forward.

·         Treasurer Election for the 2011 – 2012 school year – Denise Snep has decided to run for the upcoming year. A vote was taken and Denise was elected.

Committee Reports

o   All ready to go for March 24th

·         Book Fair – Mandie Meier and Claire Slattery

o   The Scholastic Book Fair will be at our school from Monday, April 18 – Thursday, April 21! The thrilling theme is Book Fair Carnival, Your Ticket to Read! We need volunteers to help put on a prize-winning Book Fair. If you have some time to help us plan or conduct our next Book Fair, contact Mandie Meier at 847.858.4931 or mandiemeier@gmail.com. A sign-up sheet was also passed around at the meeting.

o   Classroom/Teacher Rep meeting will be on March 16th. This person will manage the invitations and paperwork for the classroom. We are missing reps for some of the classrooms (Garrow – morning and afternoon, Helman, Moyer, Berk – morning, Dehring, Demeas/Elliot, Hosteland, Bohlmann, Hurt, Bollman, Giglio and Kleinschmidt).

o   Grand Event – bring someone “Grand” to school Tuesday, April 19th during lunch.

o   Family event will be April 19th and 20th in the evening.

o   We will also be doing an online fair which runs a span of 20 days – April 11th – May 1st.

o   We are doing one for books – more details to follow.

·         Field Days – Carin Wishne and Carrie Groebe

o   May 24th (First  and Second Grades) – rain date is May 31; May 25th (Third and Fourth Grades) – rain date is June 1st

o   Will be run like last year – will need help with set-up, details to follow

o   Culvers ice cream will be provided at lunch time

o   Room Parents have been asked to provide the names of three parent volunteers per room to help at the event

·         Alternative fundraising (Butter Braids) – Diane Carpenter

o   Will go on sale March 18th.  They are $11 of which the school gets $4.50. It is an easy money maker for the school. Almond Crθme is the new flavor. Smaller orders will go home with the kids - larger orders will need to be picked up April 14th.

o   Dine and Share with Culver’s – date to come. This will be our last dine and share night.

 

New Business:

·         Reminder – District forum for candidates will be March 22nd at 7:00.

·         Summer school brochures are out – sign your kids up now. Information is on the district website. 

 

Elise Hood and Nancy McGee made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:55 p.m.  The next PTO meeting will be Tuesday, April 5, 2011 in the library at 7 pm.
