As is the case every year, all computers and laptops throughout the district need to be re-imaged. During this process, all critical updates, network, and software changes are applied allowing for a fresh start to the next school year. As a laptop user, you will be required to sign up to have your laptop re-imaged during the summer. If you do not sign-up and your laptop is not re-imaged before the start of the next school year, you will be unable to access the district network. Below are some helpful tips and information.

What if I am a brand new laptop user (primarily refers to Kindergarten, First, Second, or Third grade teachers). Do I still need to set up an appointment?
|
No. You will get a separate sign up email with possible dates to pick up your new laptop! |
|
What if I have had my laptop for 4 years and am on the “buyout” list…Do I still need to make an appointment?
|
Yes. You will drop off your old laptop and pick up your new one on that date. Your old laptop will be re-imaged back to factory settings. This process will take 2-3 weeks. |

What happens if I get a virus or something goes wrong with my laptop during the summer?
|
The entire Technology staff will be here all summer. If you have any issues, please feel free to contact your Tech Support Specialist or Gail Drake (our Technology Administrative Assistant) at 847-540-3400 to set up a time to bring it in. |
| What do I do if I don’t need my laptop during the summer? |
If you do not need your
laptop all summer, we would prefer that you turn it in to your Tech
Support Specialist who will securely store it for you until August and
have it re-imaged for your return for the new school year. It is
important, however, that you backup all of your files before you
leave your laptop for the summer. Due to the enormous amount of work we
have scheduled for the summer, we will be unable to do this for you.

| Will my home internet settings remain on my laptop? |
No, you will need to make
sure that you have your personal ISP (Internet Service Provider)
information saved. If you do not have that information available, you
can always contact your provider after imaging to have them walk you
through the process.
|
| Is there anything special I should know about caring for my laptop during the summer? |
Remember not to store your
laptop in any place where it will be exposed to extreme heat… the trunk
of your car or just in your car while parked for a period of time.
Computers hate the heat, so be sure to store them in a cool place.
